Who doesn't love delicious, fresh, juicy strawberries dipped in chocolate and hand-rolled in almonds? These are my favorite treats because it's yummy and a healthier option than plain old regular chocolate. :)
But the chocolates used here are not your plain ordinary American chocolates that you find in the supermarket. In May, my mother-in-law went to Germany and brought back all kinds of chocolates for my husband and I. We ate some but the rest just sat there in our refrigerator taking up a lot of room. I, also, had fresh strawberries sitting right next to the chocolates. Oh what an idea it gave me.
I took out all the chocolates... white ones, purple coated ones, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolates with peanuts, chocolates with almonds, all different kinds. And this is just me assuming the flavors by the appearance because the wrappers all were written in German, and I don't understand one bit of it. So I unwrapped all and poured it in a sauce pan. Depending on how much chocolates, I put 2 % milk in it accordingly and cooked it until it was chocolatey enough to dip :)
Put wax paper on a plate or tray and dip the strawberries in the dip and put it on the plate. Freeze it a little then repeat so your strawberries have a thick layering of chocolate on them :) ...After the 2nd dipping, roll them in crushed almonds and cool.... SOUNDS SOOOO YUMMY! I JUST WANT TO GO MAKE THEM RITE NOW BUT DON'T HAVE THE INGREDIENTS... BOOOOOO :( ...
Hot date?? definitely try this and your significant other would be VERY happy. :)
Enjoy these homemade chocolate-covered strawberries.
Til next time... Adios!
Mmmm...I always thought chocolate and strawberries were as easy as opening the nearest jar of nutella and dippin away! But I guess the secret lies in freezing then redippin. (wonder if that constitutes as double dippin?! But heck when it comes to chocolate, who cares!)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of rolling them in crushed nuts. But I'd probably roll em in some more chocolate ;)
You can also roll them in crushed chocolate candies :) or even shredded coconuts..... Just keep rolling :) and you will have delectable goodies :)
